Still with XQuery

I’ve been successful enough getting some interesting behaviors implemented with XQuery that I haven’t been playing with ATL or QVT much lately. Eventually I’ll bring in one (hopefully QVT Relations). But I’m starting to wonder how long I’m going to live with a hybrid system.

Oh, and I went with Saxon’s implementation of XQuery and XQJ. Everything works great so far.

I can play with many aspects of “structured co-evolution” with xquery just fine, so it’s likely that merging everything into the One True Language is going to be near the last step. (Of the project as it is currently defined, anyways.)

Though I’m anxious to get to that last step. I think that’s where it gets fun and interesting. But without all the hard work up to that point, I just won’t be able to tell a convincing story, so I’ve got to stay focused on writing a highly motivating example.

I’m planning on submitting stuff to ASE and MoDELS, which heave deadlines in early April and May, respectively. I think I’m in decent shape for these papers. Soon after, I’ll do an assessment and see exactly what needs to get done to wrap up in the PhD.
