Bidirectional Model to Model Transformation Languages

Just a heartbeat to show I’m still alive…

I ran into / encountered the class of “bidirectional model to model transformation” languages recently, starting with QVT. This seems to be a very active area of research, and one that I’m pretty compelled to see work. I’m happy to do whatever workarounds are required in order to move in this direction. I noticed a Czarnecki paper from earlier this year that was sort of downplaying the immediacy of the success of all this stuff — I’ll post more about it later. But nevertheless and despite all the difficult challenges, I’m looking forward to putting some of my energy into this endeavor.

I’m going to try to submit a couple of things to OOPSLA before the 7/2 deadline, so I may not be posting a whole lot. Soon after that, I hope to write a “how I got here” post in an attempt to try to retrace some of my thoughts over the last 11 years or so.

Before that, I’ll try to post a thing or two about the QVT, ATL, and whatever other languages in this class that I spend time with.
